Sand and Fog

So yes, last week was the first week of school, and on top of the wretched getting-used-to-the-early-schedule-hell that is inherent with Crack-of-Dawn Elementary School (thank goodness only TWO of my kids attend this year), a pressing work deadline, a  snafu in my volunteer job–  it was wonderful to have my house back to work in silence! (Do you hear the crickets chirping? I sure do.)

Even in lousy weather, beaches are beautiful.

We ended the first week of school with a six-hour drive to the Gulf Shore for my niece’s wedding. Thankfully, she has such a radiant smile and luminous soul– it outshone the  dreary weather and constant rain.

Who would have thought one could be cold in Florida in August?

Sweatshirts in Florida in August? OK, then.

It was a wonderful time with family we hadn’t seen in a long while.

And this trip officially closes out our year of traveling, folks. With the exception of a couple of 2-hour trips to see my parents, I think we’re done for the rest of the year. Punta Cana, London, Florida….it’s been real. Thanks for the memories.
