One of the reasons I wanted to build a house in this neighborhood was because of its trick-or-treating potential.

There are 35 lots. It’s a dead-end community– no thru-traffic. The neighborhood is virtually flat.

Even with a slow toddler, one can leave the house at 6:15 and be home 1 hour later with an enormous bag full of treats. (Our neighbors are generous, too. They give each trick-or-treater several pieces of candy.) I imagine in a couple of years, when my youngest is 6, I won’t even need to go with the kids trick-or-treating. I can stay back, put on some really scary costume, and create some sort of spookfest at our house.

I can’t let the kids have all the fun.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but Halloween sure is a close second.

  1. Love the costume! And we used to live in that same sort of neighborhood. Great for the kids – Halloween and every other day of the year.
