Revising Bass Ackwards

My revisions, which started with just the last sentence of my novel are now 15 pages in…from the end. Apparently, once I start something in one direction, I can’t manage to reverse it. I jump up to the beginning of the scene, then revise, jump to the preceding scene, then revise. Honestly, it seems to be working for me. It’s slower, to be sure, but I think it’s forcing me to pay attention to each scene separately, and see it as it’s own whole story, as opposed to reading in anticipation of what happens next. But also, it’s helping me to see what information is really relevant and what isn’t.

I want to give a big shout out to my writing buddy, Soniah, for finishing her novel (including revisions). Woo Hoo!  I get to be one of her first readers. I can’t wait.
