The first two trips I made to my local Borders-closing sale were for my kids and the upcoming birthday parties of their friends. The last two trips I made were for me.

All the books are now 30% off. With my rewards card, I get an extra 10% off. As sad as I am to see this store go, I’m not so sad that I won’t plunk down my credit card at the opportunity to increase the number of books in my writing library. I own 4 books on the craft of writing. And as I discovered a few months back, craft books are not a good idea to purchase on the Kindle, when you need to be able to go back and forth and check the index. I’ve purchased 12 craft books in the past few days, and 2 other writers market books. I’m just going to pick them off one by one.

I’m forty-one pages into the first draft of my first novel. I think I started working on it roughly six months ago. Which means, at this rate, I’ll finish the first draft of my novel 2.5 years from now.

I’ve got to pick up the pace.

Maybe now I’ll do an outline. One of these books ought to teach me how…

  1. Cool! (and, BTW, I was thinking that it was your birthday or som’thin 😉 but I guess you’re younger than me, right?)

Those books look GREAT! BTW, my apologies for not having replied when you posted the opening paragraph of your novel. It really pulled me in, but… it’s sort of too sad for my taste (and I’m squeamish with death and accidents stuff), but it does make me really anxious to know the rest of the story.

  2. I never bought you any books about writing because I thought you already had them all! Little did I know you were just waiting to pounce on Borders demise. Now I still won’t get you any because you have them all. Hmmm…..
