After a bit of a hiatus, I’m working out regularly again. And I’m feeling about a thousand percent better. I’m not tired. I have more patience, and I’m less stressed out. I’ve downloaded my gym’s app so I can find out anytime, anywhere, whether there’s a class I can slip into. I’ve got my yoga bag permanently in my car (instead of in the garage) so that I can Vinyasa Flow at a moment’s notice.
Also, I’ve figured out the two main reasons I don’t go to the gym:
1.) I get deep into work-work or school-work, and I don’t want to break my momentum.
2.) I put it off until the weekend, and then the weekend comes and I never make it to the gym.
So from now on, I’m only going to plan to work out on weekdays, while the kids are in school. And I’m only going to go to classes that start by 8:30 AM, so that after the kids are dropped off at school, I really only have enough time to check email, change, and head back out to the gym. There’s no time for me to get into a project, and no excuse for me to ditch exercising.
I’m also going outside my comfort zone of YOGA-YOGA-YOGA. This morning, just for kicks, I tried a “ballet fusion” class. It was a great work-out. Last week, I tried a Warrior Fusion class which was half yoga, then a mix of tai chi, qigong, and martial arts. I’m not one for traditional aerobics classes, but mixing it up with yoga or pilates-inspired classes has been really fun.

I admire your determination. I hear someone else saying they really like ballet class – lost a lot of weight from it.
I’m the lone-exerciser. I like getting in, having a Nook, an iPod, and a treadmill with me and I’m good. I like the idea of taking classes but I always hear people saying it’s more fun with a friend.
When I first started out, Suzanne, I did yoga with friends. But everyone’s schedules changed/people lost interest, so I’ve been doing yoga classes on my own for a while. But I’ve made a lot of friends through the yoga classes. So when they say, “hey, I haven’t seen you in a while,” it’s a nice bit of peer pressure that helps to motivate me to go!
I recently started back at the gym, too! Super awesome. Although, the yoga classes put me to sleep, I live for the aerobic, high-intensity classes (tomorrow I’m going to do an hour of Body Combat, then an hour of Body Pump. Win)
