The gorge is several hundred feet deep. This photo really doesn’t do the depth justice.

Today, I found heaven.

Who would have thought it was in Georgia?

Early this afternoon, I hiked down to the bottom of Tallulah Gorge State Park, a magnificent canyon with gorgeous waterfalls. I hiked across the river (i.e., climbed huge boulders to get across the river), hiked alongside the river (i.e., climbed up and down boulders), to “Slippery Rock” swimming hole, waded in the water, then rock-climbed back up the side of the gorge.

It was some of the most physically challenging three hours of my life. I don’t even think I could do it again. But I am so thankful I did it once. It’s an experience I’ll never forget.

I’m headed home this weekend. What an incredible experience. I’m going to take some time to reflect on the past 2 weeks, and also? I’m taking a Blog Break, as well as a Summer Writing Prompt Break. I’ll be back, though, the second week of August.

Take care until then.  ;)

I’ve reached the bottom. Who would have thought the hardest part was ahead of me?

This is the “trail” across the river. I took this picture right after I crossed.
